The most popular and controversial renovation that I find home owners contemplating is changing or removing the bathtub and turning it into a shower. I am hearing things like, “I’m not sure if we should get rid of the tub, it’s the only bathtub in the house. What about resale value?” These are great questions to consider when planning your bathroom tub to shower renovation. I am finding that homeowners are doing this type of change in their main bathroom, ensuite bathroom, powder room, and even adding them into their basement. I have had clients who have changed their one and only bathroom with a bathtub to a shower and have no problem selling their home in the future. I have also removed every bathtub in a home and turned them all into showers.
After working with clients in the bathroom renovation business for over 15 years, I have found that they had no problem selling their home in either situation. Most of my clients are more conservative, and typically will keep one bathtub in the home. I find you need to think about things like what type of people are moving into your area. Is it more families with younger children or just starting a family, or are their children typically older? On the other hand, some clients are telling me that they don’t care, “I am going to get carried out of my house in a box, and 10 to 20 years from now my bathroom is going to be tired anyway, and the new home owners may want to refresh or change it to suit their needs.”
I will tell you that each situation is individual to your specific needs and Elegant Bathrooms understands that. No matter what you are thinking of doing, come into the store, call us or send us an email and we will be happy to help you review your unique situation and plan for it with whatever end you have in mind.
